Weekly Report-Oct 3, 2007

-Can Notre Dame get their first win? Rumors are that Michigan may have to forfeit several games b/c they allegedly used an ineligible player. What a cop out! In my opinion, the NCAA better get off their duffs and tell coaches whether it is okay to play a player-or if he can sit. Chalk it up to the Clearing House-that program is broken and no one seems to have the balls to fix it.

-Is the Pac 10 the best conference in the land? Maybe. The Cal-Oregon game was a great game-but the Pac 10 has only 3 real good teams-USC, Cal and Oregon. Arizona St may be unbeaten, but they are unproven. Wait for the conference power ratings.

-West virginia's loss means the rise of South Florida as a National Title contender. The Bulls are only a young program (I believe only 12 years old), but their rise to the top is a great story. BUT-to contend to go to New Orleans-the Bulls have to win out. Louisville is weak, but Rutgers may be a close one. If the Bulls get into the BCS, you must take your hats off to them. Jim Leavitt has done a wonderful job.

-All is not lost for Texas or Oklahoma, but the loser is out of the National Title hunt. Interesting note: Bob Stoops and Mack Brown have never started 0-2 in the Big 12; so something has got to give. Oklahoma has more to play for in this one-but to choke to Colorado? Texas QB Colt McCoy will play-but Texas needs to find another QB to get ready if Colt goes down.

-The Big 10 may have a saving grace-Ohio St and Wisconsin. The Badgers and the Buckeyes look to be on top-Wisconsin had a game against Michigan St that was the second best game of the day; while Ohio St cruised past Minnesota and those God Awful SWAC uniforms. Nov 3 may decide who wins the Big 10-the date the Badgers and Buckeyes face off in Columbus. Both are still alive for the National Title Game.

-Now the SEC-LSU vs Florida is the big one, on CBS in primetime! The atmosphere is electric, and both teams are in the hunt for the National Title Game. However it is Florida that has the most to lose-another loss can cost them Atlanta, while LSU can play care free. But this is the beginning of a hard 4 game stretch for LSU-homw to Florida this week, at Kentucky the next, home to Auburn on the 20th, and an open date before Alabama. If LSU gets through this stretch 3-1, then maybe they are worthy to be in the Title Game.

-Conference Power Ratings:

1. SEC-5 of the top 12 teams in the country. Proves Les Miles was right about the SEC
2. Pac 10-A good conference for certain, but the only tough teams are the top 3.
3. Big 12-Took a beating with Oklahoma and Texas, but Colorado and K-State represent this conference well.
4. Big East-BULLS! South Florida is a damn fine team, and the sole contender for the National Title right now.
5. Big 10-Ohio St and Wisconsin are the big guns now. If the winner is unbeaten they will be left out of the NCG by a 1 loss SEC or Pac 10 school.
6. ACC-No one really stands out-is that good or bad?
